Mon: 1 hour @ 155 heart rate Tue: 400 or 800 meter speed work Wed: 1 hour @ 155 heart rate Thurs: 4 - 6 miles alternating between easy and 10K pace Saturday: goal pace -15 for minimum of 4 Sunday: timed runs from 1:30:00 to 2:10:00
Pretty efficient plan there. Depends on if you subscribe to the high mileage or high intensity school of thought. Maybe get a race or two in before your marathon plan kicks in. Adjust your speed work for that and increase your miles during the week a little.
I think it always helps to vary your runs. Also, not really sure what the benefit of keeping your heart rate @ 155 for 2 runs a week is.
Almost forgot, good luck to all the CCC racists this morning!

BRM,
Thanks for the input.
I added the 2 runs @ 155 from some blog on improving fitness for new runners. I'll vary that 2nd run with something else that can increase miles.
With my work from home schedule and being injury free I'm going to get to 35-40+ mpw this summer.
I dont have a school of thought yet on miles / intensity since I need a couple years to learn + drop my last bit of weight. It will be trial & error ...with more error haha.

Didn’t hit 40:00, which was my “lofty” goal. This one hurt, not sure I had anymore in me today. Couldn’t get my legs to turn over. Kinda bummed, but oh well.
