I'm debating doing the one I posted if my wife is up for a trip to Houston. Can maybe package it up with a trip to visit her Mom who lives nearby. Just a tough sell with a 3 month old.
I've also never done a trail race and can probably count on one hand the number of trail runs I've ever done. Not for lack of want, just lack of access around here.

i was suspect of this statement, but then i stalked your stomping grounds on strava then compared that to alltrails (a good tool for finding off the beaten path trails) and sure enough, you got nothing around you. Denham Springs and BR look like it has a few good ones.
Tickfaw State Park looks fun, but i can't tell how far that is from you.
