I have yet another set back and a long story to explain it.
I was at my running peak from 2013-2015 ish. Did a good bit of running after kid number one, but when child two arrived and a different job, things went south. Lost the desire for running around the same time. Well I gained a ton of weight of wanted to get back to it then I had Covid, minor set back. Exactly a month after getting sick I planned to start again, and was ready to go! The day before my plan was going to start I suddenly wake up early and can feel my heart beating really fast. I put on my Garmin to check my heart rate and it’s at 180 at 5AM while laying in bed. I thought there’s no way! Leave the watch on and go back to sleep. Wake up a hour later and still at 180. Wake up my wife who’s a nurse and tell her. She says that can’t be right! Check my HR another method and it’s 80… So I’m thinking the watch is crazy and try to go about my Sunday. Went to church and walking out I feel like I just ran a marathon, I’m exhausted! Decided to go to an urgent care and get hooked up to a EKG. I’m told to get to a ER NOW! It turns out I’m in AFib. Had to get shocked to get out of it and then spend the next 2-3 months on medication and doctors until I find one that takes me off the meds and gives the green light to run. Start c25k and at week 5 my knee starts bothering me. Take a week off and no improvement. Decided to go see doctor and start treatment. It’s a slow process but finally end up getting a injection in my knee in December. Wait a few weeks and it finally feels normal. This Monday I did day 1 of c25k which was run 1 minute walk 1.5 x 8 times. On run #7 I feel and hear my knee pop followed by pain. Limp the 1/4 mile home. Next morning I can’t bend the knee and go back to Dr. Today I got a MRI and my meniscus has a tear and will require surgery. Planned surgery is March 9 but I have to hope I can get into my cardiologist to get cleared because of the damn AFib. If everything goes perfectly, I could potentially start c25k again in May. I hope it all goes well and I can get back to running soon because I’m tired of being lazy and fat!

TLDR, running is set back again due to needing knee surgery.

Gah damn man. That’s a bummer, but hope you can rehab quick and make another attempt. I’d have moved on to biking or something else after that many setbacks

Damn man I admire your persistence with staying with it. I would’ve thrown in the towel after the AFib

Sorry to hear that.

I'm on the shelf for some unforeseen amount of time right now. Couple of weeks ago felt like I had a sore back after some lifting. Two weeks later it has just gotten worse. Thought it was muscle related so got some muscle relaxers. That did nothing.

Got an x-ray today and result was:
"Only muscle spasm identified of right paraspinal spine. No bone lumbar abnormality identified."

Now I'm going back to my PCP. No idea what to do at this point. Can't stand up straight. Sharp pains when I'm moving. General tightness everywhere.
