I’ve found Cubans less so, by comparison.

Cubans are more calm than Puerto Ricans in my experience as well.

Right. But people use racism incorrectly way too much.

You can't be racist against Puerto ricans or Mexicans.

you're statement is not necessarily wrong, but would apply equally to many cities in US. I lived on the Roosevelt Roads NAS for 4 years growing up. Went all around PR. There was plenty of poverty even back then, and the island was much safer than it is now. Still, it's a great place if you know where to go.

Isn't PR a USA territory? So by definition, wearing a PR shirt cannot be un-American.

Absolutely.

Also, Puerto Ricans are Americans, U.S. citizens. It’s as if the guy was getting in her face because she had a T-shirt that said “Georgia.” There is nothing remotely provocative about wearing a Puerto Rico T-shirt.

Puerto Rico is both a ward of the state, and very independent. The residents want to be free, but they also rely on American economic support.

Are they Americans? Culturally, not really.

If I was dictator for a day, I would give them their independence. It’s the only way they’ll develop a sustainable economy, and functional institutions.

This guy will go on to have a long, distinguished career with the Broward County Sheriff’s Department.

That’s true of many of the old Spanish colonies. The Spaniards weren’t interested in building sustainable institutions, and infrastructure. When they left, it all fell apart.

The English were better about that.
