The Tuesday Thursday thing makes sense when you look past the short sighted knee jerk.

The Oasis created a world of indentured servitude society again IOI was just the only part shown.

People existed in their daily lives on the streets in the Oasis.

So it's a little bit of rah rah take care of the home mixed with darker implications of this good thing really fricked over society. What's the first step to fix that?

"Bring back weekends?"

If you go by the more detail in the book, everything about society existed in the Oasis. You are basically turning off society two days of the week because you think people are hooked on it. That's just fricking dumb. They are completely dependent on it. That's how to completely tank the economy that's left in that apocalyptic world.

That would be like shutting off electricity two days of the week in this society because people need to go outside.

How so?

It's not something that I really care enough about to further the discussion, but since you followed up with very specific questions:

quote:

Weird AI Halliday thing isn't interesting?

this was your original post regarding this, and it was completely nonesensical and sounded like something a 12 year old would come up with: "The most interesting change was completely discarded at the end. WTF was the Halliday avatar? Halliday is dead, but this thing was something else besides a generic NPC. It's like hey I'm some crazy AI, but bye bitches, my point in the movie is just to give you stuff. "

I disagree strictly because you sounded like an idiot making your point in such a way.

quote:

You don't think turning off the OASIS on Tuesdays and Thursdays is an absolutely idioctic decision?

The book and the movie made it a pretty clear point that people had no lives outside of the OASIS and that it was a problem. I have no issue with someone coming in from the outside, taking control of the company, and doing this.

quote:

You really honestly believe some troll wouldn't do it well before 5 years?

No I don't, and I honestly haven't given it more than a second's thought since seeing the movie. You people who continue to bring this up as some sort of criticism are the type of people that Point #2 above would probably benefit in the long run.

Besides the few Gunters, most people gave up on the race besides IOI.

IOI in the movie are functional idiots as any geek or nerd would go right to Adventure for the first Easter egg. They had no creativity. They had a goddamned walking tank made of IOI screens.

IOI in the book was ruthless, efficient, and being Spielberg who from Jaws to Jurassic Park never had fear of making important characters nothing or unimportant characters POV, IROK got all the good qualities of the organization in the movie.

But we are talking about the movie, not the book. They are clearly two different interpretations of a general premise.

And that's just the business side of things.

Think of the hell that's on the crippled.

It makes for an interesting premise. Did the High 5 think of that before hand?

Will a Ready Player Two have them confronted by "Guys, what the fuc I ain't got no legs, she can't see!"

But again how does a world rebuild if everyone is literally looking at their belly button?

So basically you want to disagree with me because you are butthurt I don't like the movie as much as you. Noted...

It's a completely idiotic thing to do considering jobs, education, everything is all based around this system. You are basically turning off society for two random days. It's a stupid point to make because video games are bad.

You don't play multiplayer racing games. I've never played a racing game where this didn't happen repeated at launch and through out the run of the multiplayer servers. It just happens. People are jerks and some just do it to see what happens.

You do realize that people make decisions like this all of the time "in the best interest of the public", don't you? Why would a few kids be any different? It's a fricking 2 hour movie that gets the basic point across. If every single movie had to deal with the aftermath consequences, then hollywood would be a complete shite show (not to say that it's not already).

The movie doesn't give us enough of what the society is besides a very minimal look, that's why we have to go back to the book to get some of the wider view of society. It doesn't even venture out of Columbus for it's characters.... It's in a complete bubble and doesn't introduce the audience to much.

I liked the movie ok. It was an entertaining two hours. Nothing more, nothing less. I couldn't care less if anyone else likes the movie. I said I disagreed with your points, you asked why, and I said because your rant post sounded like something a 12 year old would write. Where do you get that I am butthurt about your likes and dislikes from any of that? Not only are you unable to write like an adult, but your reading comprehension is no better than a 12 year old either.

The point was idiotic and shouldn't of been included.

Because it's a two hour movie. A large percentage of people that attended the movie did not read the book. No one needs to go back to the book for asinine details that you feel are important. The book and the movie are completely different.

Shouldn't of? Did you mean shouldn't have?

You think it "shouldn't of" been included. I don't care that it was included. I disagree with you. The end.

The lack of details is why that entire point was unneeded. Movie didn't introduce you to enough to even begin to make this moronic addition.

I am answering your questions because I happen to be on the forum right now. I'm not sure the rapidity of my responses have anything to do with it "effecting" me.

I've answered your questions. You disagree.
