Well they are idiots then because if you actually read other articles about this...Starbucks is still gonna offer straws(paper and compostable plastic) if you request them.
And they are changing the lids for their cold drinks(think like a sippy cup lid).

I was about to post about this.
People are going to get worked up over anything.. But I don't see why it's such a big deal especially since there are biodegradable options.
