I will be working in Denham Springs. I am more than likely renting a home in Denham Springs (especially after seeing the advice given here). I am a therapist that works with children with autism.

I plan on traveling into Baton Rouge when the university has an event of some sort or for other reasons.

I currently live in Jacksonville, FL, and it takes 15-20 minutes to get to anything. The city is that large and spread out as a land mass.

So, for me, taking a 15 minute drive into Baton Rouge for (name your reason here) doesn't concern me in the slightest.

The main grocery store we go to here (Publix) is not in Baton Rouge and surprisingly, neither is my bank (Wells Fargo). So, that's why I asked.

Is crime really that bad in Baton Rouge?

Again, thanks to all

The BR house to Denham job commute is pretty easy. If I were you I would look for housing on the west side of Broadmoor. It would be a trafficless 10 minute commute to work, and you'd be in a part of BR that isn't crazy expensive but is still both safe and convenient to everything.

Not really. Stay out of shitty neighborhoods, don't get involved in shady business like dealing drugs, lock your vehicle and don't leave anything valuable in your vehicle that's visible (like bags that could hold a laptop) and you should be OK.

The Denham Springs, Walker, or Watson area would honestly be your best bet then. It also would depend on what part of Denham you would be working. North or South of Florida Blvd.

No.

If you're working in DS, then I'd live in DS. Baton Rouge traffic sucks. I can't offer you any options for groceries in DS not banks. Just here to defend BR from the BS that people sling at it on this site.
