The over/under on the number of dogs and buns eaten by this year's winner is 70.5.
The Nathan’s hot dog eating contest winners get paid the following amounts:
First place: $10,000
Second place: $5,000
Third place: $2,500
Fourth place: $1,500
Fifth place: $1,000
Last year, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut repeated as men's champion by eating 72 hot dogs, beating the records he previously set in 2013 and 2016. His win last year was his 10th victory at the annual Nathan's Famous competition.
Miki Sudo will be looking for her third consecutive win in the women's competition this year.

The wife and I went to this a coiple of years back at Coney Island. It was entertaining, if only because of the diversity in the crowd. Probably a third were locals, a third Jersey Shore bros, and the rest came in from out of town. Its a relatively small space with a lot of people. Joey Chestnut won that year- it was 2012 or 2013 I think.
