Citing Ivy League salaries in a thread about "average" graduate incomes is kinda like someone saying: What is an average salary for a healthcare worker and then responding with a Neurosurgeon or Orthodontist salary.

Marketing is such a generic term.

Just within my organization we have someone in “marketing” who developed a new technological platform to present our market intelligence and someone who made a couple of social media posts a week that left for a higher paying job in retail.

Sounds like your wife’s responsibilities are probably more like the latter. There’s just not a whole lot of specialized knowledge that goes with the “brand awareness” duties. The real value in marketing is someone who can respond to client’s needs and shape the product the company provides from that.

Averages literally have to include everything unless you segment, the OP did not

Lynx always brings quality, good thing since this board has been taking hits for years

There is a big difference between Fortune 500 marketing departments and agencies. Unless your with a large consultancy like McKinsey who hire mostly Ivy leaguers or tier 1 MBAs.
