I'm finally committing to going check out the Distant Worlds show (in Houston next weekend), and was curious if any one here has been to one of these shows, and what your thoughts were?

I went last year in NOLA at the Seanger. I had a great time and think it was well worth the money. The song selection was random, with such a big catalog, but expect to hear many of the big staples. Arnie Roth was entertaining and would talk a bit about the songs in between.

I would go again.

I'll actually be in Houston that weekend, I'm going to try to make it.

I think they had to separate it from Video Games Live due to the sheer amount of music from Nobuo Uematsu.

Well, they've always been going on simultaneously. It's why Video Games Live could never use Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts video alongside the music at presentations.

Not true. Distant Worlds began in 2013. Video Games Live has been going on since 2008(?).

Distant Worlds started in 2007. LINK

This stuff I really know, because I've been trying to go to one of these concerts since high school.

Ive been to one. I had a really good time. It was a pretty good mix of tunes from different games.

I'd like to know how many songs they play from 8. I didn't like the game overall but the soundtrack was incredible.

I made it out. Loved the show. Would’ve liked another score or two from FFX, but no complaints really. The Houston Symphony was great as well as the choir. That Susan Calloway was on point. She fit AF.
No Fisherman’s Horizon either...

I had a great time. I was glad to hear Aeriths Theme. Last year when I saw in NOLA, they played Cosmos Canyon (a great song too), but I really wanted the hear Aeriths theme)

Susan was great. She sounds the same live as she does on the recordings. It was pretty amazing.

Here is the set list if anyone is interested.
