Raspberry Pi on smart TV to play NES

I'm wanting to hook up my Raspberry Pi to the big screen in the living room. I'm assuming it's as easy as plugging into the HDMI. But my couch is a good 15 feet from the TV. Is there a way to mod some NES controllers to make the wireless? I can't find any wireless ones that plug into USB ports.

That's a SNES controller. I prefer the original NES.
I guess I could if there's no lag involved. I'd have to youtube how to do that though since I'm technologically illiterate.

Look up 8bitdo controllers on Amazon, they make both NES and SNES looking wireless controllers. Their NES controllers come with SNES buttons so you can play a lot more emulators than just NES.
I highly recommend getting a SNES version though. Those square bastard controllers are much better as a memory than to actually play with them.
retropie on an SD card and install kodi as an addon and you got a film/tv watching box too.
SNES Version
Looks like the NES version is out of stock is a third party seller
NES Version
SNES Version with joysticks for playstation emulation

I have 4 rpi3's installed with this setup and set up a ton for friends. Never had an issue with 8bitdo.
The one thing I found is you have to set it up wired and wirelessly for it to work both ways. If you just want wireless use, set it up with a keyboard and it won't work wired.

I bought wireless SNES ones that work through the Bluetooth. Got them from Amazon. Hell, I have even used my PS3 controllers with the thing before

I configured my old PS3 controller with the bluetooth on the Raspberry Pi zero W.
