Yup. It’s not like they have to learn a couple dozen snakes. There are only 4 venomous species in La., and if you spend your entire life actively searching for a coral snake you’ll probably still never see one - and they are still the easiest to id, so that brings the number to only 3 in all practicality. And rattlers have a certain feature that gives you a pretty decent hint.
My brother and I could positively identify all venomous La. species well before the age of 10. It’s not that difficult.This post was edited on 6/25/18 at 1:45 pm
