How to re-engage car air compressor

Pretty positive my compressor isn’t properly engaging
It blows cool air in the morning but the air is warm in the evening. If I turn it on then off several times in the evening it will blow cooler air
The compressor is new, besides ac recharge equipment, anything else I can do without bringing it to a mechanic

It may need a new clutch.

If the clutch is not engaging,it is because it is being told not to or a problem with the clutch such as clutch gap too large or open coil winding.
If you have a good meter, you can carefully check if the clutch is getting voltage or not. Reasons for not getting voltage are many. Bad relay, bad pressure switch, pressure too low, loose wire, had computer, loose ground.
Being that it works in the cool morning but not in the hot afternoon kind of points to a pressure problem.

Iirc the pressure needs to be as close to 40 as possible?

If it’s not engaging when you turn it on, try bumping it with something. If it engages when you bump it,check the air gap on the compressor clutch plate, you’ll have to look up the specs. There are little spacers that can be taken out to reduce the gap so it can engage easier.

I'm betting that you have a leak and the refrigerant has leaked down to a point that the compressor is barely engaging....

I think this is the problem with my mom's altima. If so, What is the best way to fix it?

If you can locate the low pressure switch pull the electrical connector and put a jumper wire across the two pins and fool the system into thinking you've got the minimum pressure to let the compressor run.if it operates correctly with the jumper wire installed and you know your pressures are good its the l.p. switch

A shop can check pressures and if low insert a refrigerant that is dyed. The run it and look for the leak where the dye is showing up.

Need to start banning anyone starting a thread about an automotive problem and fails to put the year/make/model in the first damned sentence.
Lot of modern vehicles use variable displacement compressors now, there is no clutch to troubleshoot and they regulate the pressures in the system differently. They are always running and a simple voltage meter will tell you nothing because they are PWM.

I been here for 15 years
Anyways 2015 Honda Civic
This appears to be a problem since 2008 with the civic

Hondas are bad about failing relays. I had a 2008 Accord that needed the relay replaced, on average, every 3 years. Mechanic claimed the location of the relay leads to it over heating and eventually failing.

Check the EPR between the flux capacitor and the fusion cell.

What problems are in the 2020 Civic and does LSU win another National Championship before 2050?

You can run direct 12v to the clutch.
If the clutch engages it's generally ok and the problem is with the control. If the clutch just clicks you need a new clutch which generally means a new compressor and filter/dryer. (Latter should be changed any time the sealed system is opened)
