No.....it's really not unsafe if everyone is doing what they are supposed to. Keeping safe distance, paying attention. You should easily be able to slow down and not ram into the back of a car just because they are going slower.

Now is it unsafe in reality because the typical driver isn't responsible enough to drive correctly

There it is again, if. You saved it though and resolved your own issue.

I wish everything and everyone would work/drive/ride as intended. The fact is that they don't and they never ever will. It's not a matter of if.....it's only a matter of when....and the answer is never if you don't take the risk. No matter how much you hate that this is the truth, that this is how it is.... doesn't matter, it's still never going to be a good idea to bike on a regularly traveled road. You don't have to like it, but it doesn't change the fact.

You keep arguing a moot point. I have never once said cyclists aren't taking a risk. I have repeatedly said the opposite and told you that I no longer take the risk personally. This whole argument is based on the fact that everyone blames the cyclist for risk existing. We are pointing out that it is not inherently the cyclists fault. We are not pretending the risk doesn't exist.

Repeatedly people say it's dangerous because the cyclist is going too slow/on a busy road/in the middle of a lane/etc.. But the reality is that it's dangerous most of the time because the driver is distracted/annoyed/aggressive/etc.. But when you say that, someone is going to quickly come in and make a comment about how the cyclist is the real reason purely because they are annoyed they have to slow for them sometimes.
