The new figures show a drop in crime of 5.1 percent over the previous year, with 5.76 million crimes reported.
“The number of crimes committed in Germany is the lowest since 1992,” Interior Minister Horst Seehofer announced at a presentation of 2017 police crime statistics in Berlin. “The frequency of fewer than 7,000 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants is unprecedented, even in a 30-year comparison.

quote:That's very interesting. See, I live on a "Mother Road" town and we get a lot of motorcycle tours that come through during the warm months. A lot of European bikers rent scooters in Chicago and ride the road to SoCal. And many of them are English-speaking Germans.

I have personally spoken to passers-through from Germany in the last couple weeks. They're interesting people and I've just always enjoyed welcoming tourists to the area. The overwhelming consensus amongst them is that their crime stats are drastically skewered. They seem hesitant to open up about it but when they do, they pretty much all agree that lax immigration policies have had an adverse affect on their country. Just sayin. Horse's mouth.
