Apparently this girl discovered all the US presidents except one, Martin Van Buren, can be traced back to King John Lackland, the king who signed the “Magna Carte”. BS or no?

I say not BS. I've worked on my family's genealogy for almost twenty years and have found my own connections to King John. There are tens of millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of people out there also related to King John. Of course, the distance of the relationship is so distant it is of no consequence other than to be a cool talking point. Remember, your family tree is exponential. You have four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, sixteen great-great grandparents, 32 great-great-great grandparents and so on. Once you go back 15 generations you are talking about the neighborhood of 65,000 grandparents.

It's not exactly a big discovery. The girl may have discovered this for herself for the first time, but it's not exactly new news. There have been books out about this subject for many years.

A cousin traced our line back to Robert the Bruce (king of Scots in the early 1300's). It's a fun tidbit to know but there are no ramifications other than :csb:.

2 raised to the thirtieth or fortieth power is a huge number, way more than the number of people back then

Nice. My ancestry saved his life. So, you're welcome for being alive I guess.
