peer review is vastly overrated and you know it. There have been literal HOAX PAPERS that have gotten through peer review. Besides, professor Neumark is one of the most respected labor economists in America. I trust his findings.

More important point is that his findings not only back up his decades of past research, they confirm an innumerable amount of other min wage studies.

The UW study that seattle mayor scrapped was peer reviewed and showed heavy loss of hours and monthly wages for seattle laborers.

peer review is the benchmark of good analysis. While peer review is not perfect, having others check your work is a really good idea.

Is this study directionally correct? Maybe. I dunno. But you are touting this study b.c it conforms with your world view. I am sure I could find studies without peer review that say something you disagree with and you would then dismiss them.

You must have skipped over this part of the article.

The study also reviewed a third federal initiative: the Earned Income Tax Credit that effectively subsidizes work, giving low-income earners a refundable tax credit. The study did not find evidence that the EITC lowered poverty over the long run, although that finding depended on the exact specification of the model used. In Neumark’s other research, he has found strong positive effects of the tax credit.

Seems about right that someone who thinks peer review is overrated likes to form his opinions from reading Washington Examiner articles that say absolutely nothing about the methodology of the study.

Government funded peer review agency please. There is NO money in peer review and because of that the system gets hijacked for clickbait
