Agreed, the Jurassic Park movies (including the first) are summer blockbuster popcorn flicks.

Crichton's book was a bit different.

Yeah, but the first film does still have the element of "doing that just because you could was a bad idea," most often spouted from the mouth of Ian Malcolm.
