I know that it has greatly helped parents of children that have passed away in our PICU. The organ procurement agency has highly specially trained staff that approach the families about organ donation. They maintain the highest bit of respect and sensitivity with the families, esp those of pediatric patients. Time is of the essence though for an organ donation decision unfortunately.

Children need organ transplants as well. And for children, the demand is usually higher than the supply for obvious reasons.
