anyone on here in the know on wtf is happening with this app.

the law was passed, multiple articles were posted in april saying it would be available in early May such as this

i went to the website in early May and there was a link to the app store for the app and it was dead. then they removed the link and said to subscribe to an email list and they would let us know when the app was ready.

wtf is going on? i'm used to our state being slow AF when it comes to anything so at this point i'm pretty sure i'm gonna pass on buying the app but i really do wanna hear the cause for this delay

Just take a picture of your driver's license and keep it on your smartphone. I've watched enough Live PD to know this will suffice

"While I admire the tenacity of the OP and firmness of the posters for answers, the demands and perceived tone of the OP have discouraged any actual government involvement or engagement in providing updates or answers".

It wasn’t going to be profitable enough so they pulled it to have in app purchases added.

$2 to opt out of organ donation
$5 if you wear Glasses or Contact
$12 for Living Will.
And $16 for an additional 3 years

Pay to play!

You forgot $150 if you're white and $10,000 if you make over $100,000 per year.

I haven't read into this, so I might not understand it correctly.

Are people suppose to hand over an unlocked smartphone to LEO to show their DL?

Will this work for proof of insurance and registration, too?

Wait, so you can have your drivers license on your phone and basically use a digital version of your DL for everything?

Yep. Just like your insurance card is ok on the phone.

i read one article that mentioned you would never have to actually hand your device to the officer

see i would accept this answer if we didnt also colossally frick up by outsourcing the development of the app and agreeing that all purchases of the app proceeds would go directly to that company rather than the state

Good luck not handing it over when he demands it. Luckily I'm sure you and I won't have to worry about that.

it should to an extent. But, anybody can Photoshop a fake insurance card. Cops should always check registration and insurance on the computer system back in their car.
I'm not a law enforcement expert, I only play one on TD

I don't understand why people would get this. Costs the same amount plus a fee and it can't be used to board planes.

Im my experience (in urban Texas), this is done on every stop before they step out.

Even had cops tell me to put my information away because they had already validated it, they just wanted to see my ID.

Just comply with everything he tells you to do and you will be able to drive home.

This has to be false because no one pulled over on Live PD has a valid driver's license.
