Currently doing a remodel at the house and thinking about upgrading my av Rec and built in speakers. Any recommendations out there? For av I was thinking
Yamaha RX-V679BL 7.2 and for speakers Polk Audio 255C-RT. Thoughts?

The tech board would probably be a better place to axe dis question.

Looks like a nice receiver with all of the latest technology. Not familiar with Polk speakers.

But I support what you are trying to do.

I have a Denon AVR-6300H 9.2 channel receiver with Speakercraft in-ceiling speakers in a 5.1 main listening area setup with 2 additional zones.

Really like the sound quality and discreetness of my set up. Wife approval factor is high.

I have a Yamaha RX-2000. It is an older model, but it is solid as a rock. The Yamaha AV receivers are very good. Polk speakers are good as well. I have Klipsch and they sound great, but Polk are good too. For my ear the differences are not so noticeable. The only suggestion I have is to wire the speakers. Don’t use Bluetooth connections.

Agree. Hardwire everything. Hardwire Ethernet/internet from your router to your receiver. Don't rely on a small wireless dongle.

Buy a stereo. 2 speakers >>> 9, outside of a dedicated theater setup.

I also use my receiver in two zones. It has the ability to run three separate zones. That way the kids can play crap by the pool and I can either watch a game or listen to something different inside. If you have a use for that and can spring for the extra features, do it. You can also control them using your phone. I run a 5.1 sound field in the room with the tv, and a two speaker zone out back.
