Yep...going to Bend after Hood River. Will be staying there for three nights before hitting Crater Lake. I've seen all the literature and websites but would appreciate any tips.

Can't wait to sit along the Deschutes River with a local beer and wonder why I'd ever come back to New Orleans...

Bro, get yourself an intex tube and pump to bring with. You can float the river. There's some man made rapids that are fun.

There's a shuttle that picks you up at the pull out spot and drops you back off at Riverside park. Costs 3 bucks. If you rent a tube it's expensive.

With your own tube you can float 3 or 4 times for the all day $3 shuttle fee.

Mine has a built in cooler. I put beers/sammich on ice. Speaker/phone in a dry bag (rapids gets everything wet) and every trip I refresh it with more ice and beers.

It's a hell of a relaxing day. Weekends can be really busy. If the shuttle line is long I get a Lyft for $5.

You'll see a lot of hot blondes.

Hit up as many breweries as you can. Crux has the best outdoor area. Patio, misters, 3 food trucks including awesome tacos (my go to). Big grassy area to play cornhole.

Best beer selection in town, besides at the breweries, is at whole foods or Newport Ave market which is where I go. It's near downtown.

For a nice sit down breakfast I go to McKay Cottage, has outdoor seating on grass under some trees. It's a very busy place, for a good reason.

For simple coffee and pastries I go to Sparrow Bakery. Great banana bread and cinnamon rolls etc.

For a quick, cheaper meal Longboard Louie's has great burritos.

Pizza Mondo has a great lunch special, 1 slice, side salad, and a coke for $5.

There are a lot of other great restaurants in Bend. Eta....for a nice dinner meal I go to Zydeco.

Eta....you staying near downtown? Lots within walking distance.

Lots of great restaurants but I always end up eating pizza at Double Mountain and then go to pFriem for more beer.
