Actually, Hwy 84 is open all the way from Portland to Hood River. Only the Scenic Hwy is still closed for part of the way (and many hiking trails off the Gorge).
It's actually open all the way to Utah, just did it
I was referring to the area itself. It's closed. There's no hiking available besides 1 or 2 short ones.

I thought about that after I typed it! I guess I was thinking Hood River as that's where MY highway ends on that trip.
