In the wake of the disappointing box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, it was widely reported that Disney and Lucasfilm had decided to scrap all of their Star Wars spinoff plans in order to focus their attention on Star Wars: Episode IX and a subsequent trilogy which would conclude the story of Rey.
The report was quickly denied by Lucasfilm, with the studio stating that there are “multiple” projects moving forward, but it seems we can officially cross one Anthology film off the slate, as Kathleen Kennedy has reportedly confirmed that the long-planned Boba Fett movie is “100% dead” as Lucasfilm instead concentrates on the Jon Favreau-produced TV series The Mandalorian.

James Mangold is writing and will direct a Star Wars standalone movie centered on Boba Fett, the feared bounty hunter and fan favorite character, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

My god, Kathleen Kennedy has to be the biggest hack producer that hasn't raped anyone of all time. Can we do something remotely creative without flipping the entire franchise the bird? Can we get a Star Wars movie where "Ohhh! I know that character/vehicle" doesn't come into play? It really almost makes me respect the prequels.
Please do something different.
Please do something different.

Rian Johnson is working on that trilogy

But it is contrary to my other request:

gonna be shite.
lets just ruin the mystique and childhood fantasies of everyone over the age of 35.
now, a Boba Fett (or Vader) movie COULD be cool if they were used as the bad guys, or boogy men, someone to be avoided but kept getting the better of the main characters goals.
but we all know its gonna be a lame origin story.

And yes, James Mangold directed LOGAN which was great, but look through the rest of his filmography. He's all over the place from creating shite to good stuff. He's a director that's a gamble. He's better than Brett Ratner, but he has no consistency whatsoever.

Full disclosure:
I never got Boba Fett. Minimal character with silly death. I’m guessing the books made him seem awesome?

i mean, he just looked cool and had a jet pack. thats all that i needed to know as a kid.
he had a cool voice too, until the prequels erased it from memory.

Boba Fett can by no means pass the Plinkett Test. Really describe him without using the following:
You must describe the character without mentioning:
Appearance
Skills
Plot relevance
Relationships
You must only describe the character in terms of their personality.

It's a movie about a legendary bounty Hunter in the star wars universe. If that's not enough to watch then just shut up and don't watch

Psst, Boba Fett sucks. He’s a little bitch that gets knocked into the sarlacc pit. Cool looking armor, lame character.

No. The whole point of these movies is nostalgia.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be sick of Star Wars but I am fricking sick of Star Wars.

With 3 movies in 3 years, you're already more sick of a franchise than one that releases 3 movies every year. Not to mention the later is the most beloved franchise of all time. How did they frick this up this much?

Ewok: Lone Survivor - a Star Wars Story
Disney is making Lucas look like he WASN'T all about the money and toys.
Shite...Disney is just a toy company now. Pump out crap after crap to sell shite.

I think Mangold doing Fett could work, but I have zero faith in KK micromanaging what he is and is not allowed to do in the film.
Just saw Solo and I know Ron Howard's directing and movies well enough to tell when something unlike his style was shoehorned into the movie, aka little moments of social commentary. It was still nice washing out that shite in my mouth that was TLJ, but the KK oversight for these movies is very apparent.
And what needs to be made is a Kenobi movie next. After you watch Solo you will likely agree.
