Looks like Trump won this one.

ATLANTA -- NFL owners have approved a new national anthem policy that requires players to stand if they are on the field during the performance but gives them the option to remain in the locker room if they prefer, it was announced Wednesday.
The new policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show appropriate respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons. Those teams will also have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.
A vote took place at the conclusion of the league's spring meeting and was unanimously approved by the NFL's 32 owners.

Watch the assholes who have talked up this behavior the last two seasons start slamming the NFL for this.

People will challenge the NFL's right to do this, but no one questions their right to fine or suspend over other on-field behaviors, such as celebrations and unsportsmanlike conduct.

They were going down if allowed to continue

If the wording is specific to "kneeling", then I fully expect the SOB's to display an even more egregious form of protest.

And people say boycotts dont work.
NFL teams felt the heat... changed the rules. This is great.

If you come out for the anthem, you should stand.
Giving the players the option to stay in the locker room for the anthem is a simple solution to the situation that should have been put in place last year.
Before 2009, all players used to remain in the locker room until after the anthem. Then the Defense Department started started paying the league to stage patriotic displays.
So the NFL didn't want to give the players the option of not attending the anthem ceremony because they were making money off of it.
Their poor decision cost them a boatload of fans and money.

Inconvenient truth that the media and Goodell will now conveniently ignore: over the past two years, the unswerving party line was; "The viewer boycott is having no effect."
