Panicky dudes who think your phone on airplane mode is going to disrupt the plane’s electronics and cause a crash.
Can someone explain this to me then? Because I'm definitely one of those panicky dudes though I stay silent about it. Had a douchebag on one flight start making phone calls at 30k feet once and I thought I was going to die.
What's the point of airplane mode?

Airplane mode is pretty much useless in a digital world. It mattered when everything was still analog. At least thats my understanding.

If it had a chance of causing the planes to crash do you really think they'd let you even bring your phone on the plane? Half the people on there are morons, they aren't gonna risk one of them not turning it on airplane mode if it was a real problem.
