Flight sim gaming

So, I have asked here before about computers for flight sims but never pulled the trigger. Well, I think I may go ahead and have my brainiac nephew build me a unit. My question now is about games. Is there a sim out there that takes you through flight school? I am not talking about little 2 minute approach tutorials but more like real life school? Thanks.

X-Plane 11 is the best one currently out

X-Plane 11 is definitely the most modern and optimized flight sim, but Flight Simulator X (Steam Edition) has a huge following still. Look into P3D version of it.
My only beef with X-Plane 11 is the lack of default content and 3rd party add-ons. While the FSX graphics are pretty shite by today's standards, at least the major cities and airports all have their identifiable landmarks.

I’ve been thinking about getting into this as well after watching a few FSX streams.
I heard it’s mostly demanding on the CPU

As already mentioned, Microsoft FSX and X-Plane 11 are both fantastic. FSX has a lot of free add-ons (both scenery and planes) that you can download that really improve the look of the game. I've been playing it for years and it never gets old to me. I haven't even checked out the Virtual Airlines, so there's still a whole world I haven't tapped into yet. Depending on your system specs, FSX will most likely run better on your system than X-Plane.
One other one that hasn't been mentioned... FlightGear. It's an open source simulator that's been around a long time. The quality level isn't quite as high as the other two mentioned, but for the price (FREE) it's still a pretty good simulator.
Make sure if you're really going to get into flight sims that you get yourself a good joystick! It really makes a big difference.

On the other side of the airplane sims, war thunder is a pretty damn decent war plane sim. Interwar through I want to say either Korea or Vietnam. Not exactly what you’re looking for. But it’s a fun change of pace flying a p-52 and taking down 109s over Europe
