Houston - Memorial Day Weekend Recs

Hey guys. I know there are probably some Houston residents or frequent visitors who could give some advice. Any help is appreciated. We will be there from May 25-28. I would like to stay near the Toyota Center (yes, taking the wife to the Justin Timberlake concert) if anyone has experience staying near there. Any must do's or must eat's that are going to be taking place that weekend? We are flying into Hobby and had planned to Uber or something everywhere. Is that doable?

Great area to get a hotel. Marriot Marquis, Magnolia, Aloft, Hotel Allesandra, and Meridian are all nice.

You can walk most places you'll want to go. Any uber ride will be less than 10 minutes unless you're going to the galleria or to the suburbs.

Google the many Houston restaurant recs that have been on the F&D board. Too many to list here. If you want to narrow it down to a cuisine type, we could help with that.

Not budget level, but I'm not looking for a 5 star either. Something around $150-200 a night or so.

We will walk for sure, that's my favorite thing to do in a new city. I was more interested in getting from the airport to the hotel area. Uber? Taxi? Tram?

Will do, thanks! I'd take your favorite bbq place and/or restaurant though

The ones I mentioned above.
Hobby to Downtown is about 25 minutes. You should be able to Uber, but I'm not sure how Hobby treats them in the pick up line as compared to taxis.

Close to you? The Pit Room in Montrose. Xochi (real Mexican) is very hot right now and very close to you, though I still prefer Hugo's in Montrose (same owner). Vic and Anthony's is a good, close steakhouse. Potente (italian) is one of the newest openings in town. The original Ninfa's on navigation is a quick uber ride away and a great representation of good Houston Tex-Mex. Reef is a favorite of mine for seafood.

Hilton Americas is right next door to Toyota Center and is very nice and in your price range. We stayed there also going to a concert at TC.

No issues with Uber from Hobby. Done it several times

That's right! He had water from Harvey. Caswell has not had a good year or so. Oxbow 7 was "taken" from him too.

Book your hotel using this website LINK
Downtown on weekends isn't very busy, but your a fairly short drive or uber from most things you'll want to do.
Aka sushi is really good, it's a short uber ride.
Torchys tacos has multiple locations in the areas around downtown, go grab lunch one of the days.

A bit of a hijack but what’s up with that site?

It shows you what the hidden hotels are for Priceline express deals. Obviously Priceline isn't too happy about it with that header they added to the page. The site is legit, I've used it 8+ time with no issues.

Stay at Hotel ZaZa Museum District. Their “shuttle” will take you to Toyota Center for free. Monarch is a very good restaurant in the hotel.

Holy shite, those are some great deals. I just searched Houston for tomorrow and saw Hilton Americas and Hotel Magnolia for $75-$80 per night.
Bookmarked for future use.
