Single, live in about 800sq ft and I'm comfortable. I could upgrade to get a third bedroom, but it'd be wasted honestly.
I've some friends (a couple with no kids and no plans for kids) who just bought a 3500 sq ft house and I cannot for the life of me understand why. Yeah it'll appreciate and all, but their utility bills and taxes are outrageous.

Something to consider about big houses... In a city center, there are options for high-end apartments/condos with minimal sqft. In the burbs, usually the nicer neighborhoods have the bigger houses. If you want to live in a nicer area that comes along with with a lot of sqft whether you need it or not.
