This would be my starting XI if I was Tite. However I think he probably plays Coutinho on the right instead of in midfield.

No Danny Alves hurts Brazil and no Manuel Neuer hurts Germany.

Do these losses drop these teams from being favorites?

I mean, who’s gonna jump them? France?

Germany is loaded at GK behind Neuer, and one outfield player shouldn’t kill Brazil.

Neuer considered best keeper in the world for a reason.
Ter Stegan is very good but not at Neuer level.
Look at yesterday’s game for example.

I know Brazil is deep but Alves has lots of experience and is a leader. Who will fill that void?

Yes, I’m well aware of how good Neuer is.

But the dropoff shouldn’t be that severe. And an elite goalkeeper isn’t make or break for an international contender. Look at Buffon and De Gea.

Saudi Arabia will have at least 6 Mohammed or Muhammads in there.

I glad for Marcelo that Tite took over for Dunga....This could be the year that Marcelo can make up for his sordid WC history.

Belgium once again has the talent to make a semi-final run IMO. They have star power at every level on the field. Here would be my rough Starting XI not in any order

GK: Courtois
DEF: Vertonghen, Alderweheld, Kompany
MID: Witsel, Dembele, De Bruyne, Carassco
ATT: Hazard, Lukaku, Mertens

Bench: Mignolet, Vermaelen, Fellaini, Tielemans, Mirallas, Benteke

Doesn't matter our XI. It will be awful. 38 year old Sergei Ignashevich just came out of NT retirement because the squad is so bad. FML.

Firmino won't start until he actually outplays Gabby in the national team. Firmino usually sucks in the canary and blue.

What do you think about Alex Sandro getting no invite?

Probably deserved. I liked him a lot but his performances fell off a cliff after last season and Filipe Luis is very experienced.

This will be Luis’ first World Cup and I’m so happy for him. He really deserves it and he’s a much better defender than Sandro.

And about Firmino/Jesus, I agree with you. The Neymar-Jesus-Coutinho partnership is golden but I’d still give Bobby a chance just because of the form he’s been in this season.
Personally, I’d start him in the pre-tournament games to see how he combines with the others and if it doesn’t work better than with Jesus he can come off the bench.

The Dani loss definitely hurts but this was his last World Cup anyways. He was retiring from the NT after the summer :(
His experience and skill is a loss but I think Fagner/Danilo are capable enough. I actually wanted Rafinha to be called up though.

nope. Germany is so strong that even without Neuer they’re still one of the favorites. Brazil without Dani isn’t the worst possible thing to happen to the team. Bigger loss for the Seleção would be Neymar (obviously) or Casemiro/Fernandinho imo.

Germany and Brazil are still the favorites to me.
Spain/France a tier below.

Peru/Belgium would be my dark horse picks to make it deep.
