Is an older Firestick better than a newer Firestick for Kodi, Terrarium, etc?

I bought a firts generation Firestick many years ago. I loaded Kodi and Kryptonite on it a few years later (still a couple of years ago.) Anyway keeping up with updates got to be a pain in the arse and I quit using the add-ons.

Somehow or another I misplaced the remote. Amazon wanted $29.99 for a new remote but also had a new Firestick with voice remote on sale for $29.99 so I just bought that.

Should I use the new Firestick or is there a way to use the new remote with the old Firestick?

I'm just trying to be able to catch Jeopardy! on time-delay.

I'd splurge the extra $20 and get the FireTV "box." At least it's got extra horsepower and is 4K compatible.

I wish they made the remotes taste bad for dogs. Mine has eaten 3 Amazon Fire TV remotes

Old FireTV > new FireTV
New Firestick > old Firestick

You can swap the remotes. You just have to pair them. There is also a fire tv remote app you can use.

Why even use the remote? Use the app on your phone. Bet you always know where that is.
