I listened to a podcast a month or so ago (I think it was In the Dark) and they interviewed a sex offender (statutory I think) and he discussed how hard it can be in some communities to find places to live that are not near a school, church or playground.
You can make a killing as a landlord to sex offenders. There are trailer parks, apartments, and in this case weekly/monthly hotels that cater to them. The places they can live are restricted, so you can charge higher than market rent, and they always renew their lease. My understanding is that they are usually very good tenants because their options are so limited.
