I usually shoot in the mid 90s and I'm looking to get some new irons. What are some decent irons that I can get that don't cost $300 or more?

There are so many factors that go into buying irons. Go ahead and take he advice if getting fit properly. If you want to spend $300, you can find the same set of an older model of the same club on eBay.

Go to a Demo Day, hit everything and narrow it down to 2 or 3 and hit them again. One selected, get properly fit by a PGA Professional. Do not get fit on a mat, you must be outside and see ball flight.

Good suggestion, I didn't know such a thing existed, as in demo day.

That’s why you work with a club fitter. Any decent golf store will have one. They will fit you for a club with the proper length, lie, and shaft. Come tell us what they tell you and we will hook you up

What kind of player are you? Check out club reviews in Golf Digest or Golf Magazine. They are broken into two, Players Clubs or Game Improvement. Players clubs are for single digit handicaps and game improvement is above that approximately. Game improvement irons will be cavity
back, thicker top lines and more offset.

I still play ping G15s and love them.

I recommend something in that series. Big club heads with thick soles. Easy to hit and great feel IMO.

Ping G25 irons can be had for cheap. A great option that you'll be able to into. Not super chunky but big enough to inspire confidence.

As others have stated, get fitted for proper shaft flex.

I hit really well with the Callaway XR OS irons. Very forgiving irons, if your like me and just getting into or back into golf then I would suggest this set. Btw they are on sale @ Dicks right now for $499.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm definitely a double digit handicap. I can drive long and straight, putt decent but short game and basically any iron is terrible. I will get fitted for clubs and look into the suggestions. Thanks y'all!

I would disagree with getting a fitting until you can honestly say that you have a repeatable swing that can be replicated with the fitter.

I have seen several people just do inside on a monitor and know that personally, those results would have varied for me at those times. That is completely my own opinion, but I would hate to see someone spend a bunch of cash on clubs that only fit them the day they nervously swung inside of a fitters office.

Large soles on your wedges will definitely improve this area of play.

Nike Engage wedges for the win. They ugly, but cheap and excellent.

Completely agree. If you are a high 90s player you more than likely do not have a consistent swing and I’m not sure a fitting is worth the money. Your money would be better spent on lessons

A club fitting at most places is complimentary if you buy the clubs at that location. It makes a difference at any level.
