Maybe not. but here's a few "reasonable doubts"
Malone, Gilmore, Locature, and Heron.
We were thin on the lines, the injury bug hit us, and our best QB couldn't throw the long ball.
We almost did well in spite of all that.
I think he deserves a little cautious optimism, but I want LSU to win.

I don't begrudge any cautious optimism, but none of what you listed from last season means Orgeron deserves it.

He's not a first-time head coach. In fact, he owns one of the worst tenures in conference history. He's also contradicted his own promises after insisting he had changed.

Someone on the SEC Rant posted that Jimbo would need to lose 64 consecutive games to sink to Orgeron's winning percentage. In terms of deserving benefit of the doubt, they're in different universes.

How many games did Jimbo lose last year with all that talent?

So we only look at one season body of work vs a coaches entire careers body of work?

It was a shitty season no doubt and it shouldn't be excused but to be fair it seemed like him and the administration were checkout out all year, it was a doomed marriage, but it didn't help that his starting QB went down in the opener vs Bama

he has the benefit of the doubt because of his past seasons at FSU, never came close to what happened last year in all his other years there. I think thats fair

I definitely will, I didn't take much from our spring game as I always never do. I hope he proves me wrong, I really do

I just might not be the most confident

So a coach doesn't receive credit for recruiting an elite QB and developing them?

he still won a lot without Winston, Jimbo has proven to develop QB's his entire career, even back when he was at LSU

If you had to pick today between Coach O and Jimbo, who do you pick?

No question. I agree 100% that we don't know how it will play out. All we really have to go by is what we've seen so far and since we haven't seen anything from anyone on offense basically, including the OC, I think it's understandable to be a bit skeptical. At the same time, there is some reason for optimism. There is plenty of raw talent and I like the overall philosophy. Just comes down to can the coaches coach it. To be frank, I'm not sold on O's ability to hire good coaches after Canada and Joseph.

At least O can recognize our weakness. The lines of scrimmage. Miles could not.

That is not my question, try again

If one coach had to be the head coach at LSU which would you choose?
