Been trying canoeing the past two years. Went to Caddo river in Arkansas and it was alright but looking for something that’s more rough, swift, just more full experience. Any suggestions? Anywhere in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee are options.

Devils River in TX. Its on my bucket list
ETA: Would recommend Pigeon River in TN too, although when I went it was whitewater rafting, not canoes.

With your canoe? I traded my canoe in for a Jackson Coosa and a Native Ultimate. I’ve been down Class 2 and 3 with both, although I wouldn’t do a few particular class 3’s again in my Coosa. The Buffalo River in Arkansas is a must paddle for anyone who enjoys river trips.
It sounds like you want remoteness and class 2-3 rapids. Kisatchie Bayou in LA has some swift water in places, believe it or not. No real rapids though anywhere in the state. Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee are your best options. Come over into NC and I can help you out more.

In Arkansas, Big Piney Crek from Helton's Farm to the campground, Mulberry River from Wolf Pen campground to Turner Bend, and the Cossatot River near Albert Pike. As always, the water needs to be right to get some good Class 2 and 3 rapids

Buffalo River
The BOC can get you set up. I recommend a 2 day 23 mile float from Ponca to Pruit. Tent camp on the river after 10 or so miles, then come off the river the next day and stay in one of their cabins. Peak season on the Buffalo is spring to early June as it is a rain dependent river (especially on the upper end). You won’t be disappointed, but don’t screw around if the water is high; bout got my wife and I killed trying to be a badass.

There is a Buffalo River, AR. Never been but hear it’s pretty awesome
There is also a Buffalo River, TN. Canoed it but I was a kid remember that it was a lot of fun.
Locally for me (Memphis) is the ghost river section of the Wolf River. It’s only a day trip but it’s a really, really neat trip. Took my son on it a couple of years ago. He had a blast. He was 10 at the time. May try it again this year.
