According to Payton before the draft they were:
Pass rusher- check
LB
TE
OL
I imagine with 5 picks and 80 guys already on the 90 man roster we will move around a bit today to make need match value.
Aside from what Payton listed this is what I see as holes this year:
3rd HB (we have a few 4th HB options on the team)
4th or 5th CB (outside guy)
4th safety (preferably a FS but Coleman can play both spots if pressed)
Payton would likely list these as wants as opposed to needs because this is more about depth (which is still important but not as critical as starters/first backup).
QB of the future is also a want but that ship sailed once Rosen was drafted.

I am fine with what we have at CB
We need a backup outside guy. We wouldn't want to see PJ or PRob on the outside.
But Breaux is still out there and said he was willing to come back, so we don't need to force a pick there. I think Moore may also be hanging around.

I’d like to see us target Tim Settle DT Va Tech. We are thin at NT and settle has upside.

Really want Ian Thomas and the best rotational OL available. Then we can go BPA the rest of the draft and I’ll be happy.

Saints just haven’t been taking players like this lately

I don't understand the hesitation the "win now" Saints are having over Maurice Hurst.
It's not a Fairley veteran-contract-situation where there's guaranteed multi-millions that would have to be paid out even tho he's physically unable to finish his contract.
If Hurst plays anywhere from 1 to 4 years before he is forced to retire, you get the draft's best pass rushing DT for your Super Bowl run(s) for pennies & nickels.
He'd bring the middle disruption the Saints were hoping to add with Suh for a couple of years, only at a thrift store price.

I think we make a run at Hurst. I know he has a potential heart issue but a starting DT quality guy in the 4th seems worth the risk.

I have no problem with taking Hurst in the 4th as long as we also take care of OL as well. Might have to trade up to acquire both though.
His only legit competition to make the team as #4 DT is Loewen. I'd gladly take Hurst even if it was a fact that he will only be able to play 4 years.

Larry Holder just said they could look at him in the 4th today - I agree. Big guy. Could be a good fit next to Rankins in the middle.

I was kind of surprised that he didn't get drafted in the 3rd. Just based on value & our need...I'd take that pick.

I’d like at least two OL today.
