No more pay leads to more qualified people looking into education. People disregard going into the education field because of the pay, if you pay them accordingly then they will gladly come and teach.
So higher pay only needs to apply to new aplicants correct?
You keep dodging the critical error of your argument, how does raising the pay for those already in the field raise performance? are they intentionaly doing a bad job?
I am starting to doubt you are capable of critical thinking much above that of a middle/high school level.

You're paying into the pension find. That's how it works every where. You have an awesome retirement plan. The fact that you are criticising it is comical.
I'll ask again, would you restructure your retirement to raise your salary? Don't give me some private sector bs because this is the public sector.

I've also answered sao in depth and it threw the convo off with his questions.

No you're just trolling trying to get me off topic.
I answered your questions, sad you have to be a smartass with your replies.
I'm not trolling at all. I've been clear about my education stance since post 1. If you're upset, that's likely a sign.

Tell me about your personal life so I can derail the thread then.

I mean if I wanted to get critical applicants and intentionally instead of what you typed

Honestly, I can't answer every question because I am a teacher. There are a lot of things I would love to change about Louisiana and the education system
Posted on 4/28/18 at 1:14 am to momentoftruth87
No. Let's stay on topic and talk about how you think one person can affect change in his parrish. That was your argument, not my career in State Government Pharmacy Benefit Management with a contractual second business in Medicare supplement, Annuity and small business employee health insurance.

I would because I understand the time value of money, but that's neither here nor there. Surely you understand that you are paid by tax dollars, therefore there is only a certain amount of dollars. In business, I can make more money if the business starts to make more money. The same is not true for you. By giving you a raise that also increase pension expense. So for arguments sake let's say a raise can't be done, but you could vote to raise your salary $12k per year, but you'd only get 50% pension, would you take it?

That's fancy way to say you reimburse government Healthcare.
Posted on 4/28/18 at 1:21 am to Mingo Was His NameO
None of the above reimburses the government. State risk pool is fully funded via the eligible population through relationships with private healthcare entities. Medicare supplement is via private carriers to bridge the gaps between Medicare Part A/B and D. Annuities are monies provided by the client via savings over a career of savings.
Rebuttal?

Just like casinos in Louisiana was supposed to go into education and road repair but that hasn't happened like planned.
quote:If you read anything I don't believe everyone should get a raise, I believe those deserving need a raise. I've scored a 3 or 4 on every end of the year for the last 5 years yet I've only received 300 in bonuses and 400 in raises.

Not sure how anyone can argue this is fair based on what I've done and accomplished. However, many feel that teachers are glorified babysitters and don't deserve nearly what they're paid.

My friend no disrespect intended, but you truly are clueless.
If tommorrow you were offered a 50% pay increase in exchage for you funding your own retirement, being placed into the SS system, losing civil service protection, and being on the hook for your own health insurance, would you take it?

I was just messing with you dude, damn. You're so defensive. But you did use all that verbiage to try to big shot the other poster, you could've just said what you do.

He's not going to answer, but the answer should be no if he's smart.

That's not true. Your wife or children are entitled to a refund of what you paid into the retirement through TRSL?
So that should make you feel a lot better.

I'm not a big shot, though. I was vaguely asked to reveal myself and I did. I'm nobody. But I do have an intimate knowledge of education as it pertains to Texas. I work with the state, it's teacher orgs and also very close to teachers personally. It's a bigger struggle for them personally, professionally and politically than I ever fathomed.

Bingo
Government employees in general trade the instant gratification of higher compensation for certianty of benefits and lifetime employment, quite honestly this is a very wise choice for some.
This cat just wants to have his cake and eat it too.
