A lot of people had absurd averages back then. Hornsby sure as hell ain't hitting .400 today.

I get these stats are amazing, but do you really think anyone would be able to bat .400 in today's game? Comparing the game from the early 1900s to now is becoming apples and oranges.
Bigger, faster, stronger, throw harder...the game has evolved a lot.
