Hughes is hitting .220 (less after tonight) with a less than .300 OBP.
The theory is that he is solid on D.
It’s increasing apparent that his range is very poor.
Who else (other than Smith obviously) can play short?

I heard one time that a bunch of the LSU players played shortstop in high school.
Just bar talk though.

Ray Lewis is flying to Josh Smiths house to pump him with deer antler spray

Should have plenty options with a team full of SS’s

I am assuming KRob and Freeman just had great range because these guys don’t get to anything that’s not within a foot of them at 2B or SS.

that was more so last year's team.
the entire infield could play ss
i think it was like deichmann, kramer, cole freeman, and josh smith
also i think another guy, i can't remember. perhaps a transfer out? unless that was a season prior. my memory is shot atm.

This is your answer Kramer and Freeman got amazing jumps on balls off the bat which allowed them to have more range.

The option is josh smith if he ever gets healthy.

Hughes moves like he's wearing concrete cleats. And that's the least of our problems. Whole team team needs to get their eyes checked. Or use cricket bats.

A few weeks ago everyone on this board was saying move Smith to 3B when he comes back because Hughes was so great at SS

At one point last year six of the eight starters had played short stop.
1B-Slaughter
2B-Freeman
SS-Kramer
3B-Smith
RF-Deichman
CF-Watson
Duplantis in LF and Papierski at C were the only two that hadn't played SS.

Still .220 something and less than .300 OBP.
So no substantive comment on the content of the post?

You're 0 for 2.

Yes, high school ss are usually the most talented. I think LSU has at least 5 former ss on the roster. Let's just move Zach Watson from CF! On the other hand, just because they played high school ss doesn't mean they are suited for ss in the SEC.

Broussard is a pretty good defensive ss, not a big league arm, but can do the rest
