I guess call gordon or morris bart or whomever and try and cash in.
I would personnally go ahake the hand of the pilot and thank her for allowing me to see my kids again. And be done with it.

I'd consider it a moral imperative to ensure the consequences of the event were not wholly decided by the offending party.
It's absurd to think a person or company can determine what their punishment should be when they screw up. Ever heard of moral hazard?
