Possibly. It is also the thread where reasonable heads may suggest over $6000 on a diamond with color and clarity issues visible to the naked eye might be unwise.

Agree with you, but it's the size that's propping that price up. He isn't going to find a stone of that size with better color and clarity for much under $8,000, and that's not assuming retailer pricing (which will be more).

I paid over $5000 for the first one I bought. Huge lesson learned when I went to pawn it after we split.

I bought my wife some diamond earrings years ago before we got married for $800. She wanted to get married after a few years of dating and really wanted a ring. I told her give me the earrings. I traded them in for the same price I bought em and paid $500 for her engagement ring. It doesnt look like a $5000 ring but she or I didnt want it to.

OP dont spend $6k on a ring. Im not saying yall will break up, just that its throwing away thousands of dollars. If she is the one, the ring dont matter.
