I don’t understand why the cost of education is so much? I mean I get supply and demand and the student loan game, but some of these universities could run off the interest of the endowments alone?

Bloated administrations, paying tenured professors too much, and blowing money on projects that are unnecessary.

Working at a university is the equivalent of working for FedGov -- you don't do shite for half the day, make a good salary, and get full benefits.

2 big things

1. administration. it's exploded and there is a large volume and many of them have insane salaries

2. all the amenities they're adding in the arms race to get that sweet, sweet loan money rolling in

Secondary education and the car business are the same.

If somebody is willing to finance their customers for $10k a semester (or car), they'll charge $10k. If they'll finance $50k, they'll charge $50k.
