I think it should go farther than food. If you are on any type of government assistance then you should be tested. Welfare, medicaid, food stamps, section 8, utilities assistance and anything else a person may be drawing.
Taxpayers already pay for phones, internet access, food, lodging, utilities, and health care for a lot of these people yet they can afford tattoos, jewelry, cigarettes, 32" rims, and a host of other things that are considered "luxury" items. I for one am sick of seeing the system abused and flaunted.

phones
stupid idea - but should be limited to the flip-type with nothing but phone/text capability - no image at all.

internet access
map to public library
quote:
food
subject to dire need and demonstrated attempts to find work and healthy habits. severely limited for obese people.
quote:
lodging, utilities
dependent on demonstrated history of good maintenance, work, and healthy conditions, including any educational success of any children.

health care
dependent on demonstrated life style standards.

should result in severe deductions in benefits.

getting free stuff from the govt should be a pain in the arse - should have to get in line and no paying customer should ever have to wait on them. Free stuff should be limited to essential items only - and the cheapest and most generic available. dry beans, rice, powdered milk, canned vegetables and meat, fresh basic fruit - no cookies, candy, soda, premium items of any kind.
maybe a 'government assistance' section in stores from which recipients can trade in their cards for items - none of which are returnable for cash of any kind.

Your on the right track. The only way ill ever be for drug testing for benefits is if they extends to all our government employees also including our elected officials.
Sorry but im nor down with the go after poor people first mentality. There are elected officials and their staff snorting coke off hookers, sleeping through congressional sessions, and laughing at how above the public they are. Why aren't we going after those shitlords first

You can't get any of this with a SNAP card. Now you can use a SNAP card to buy food items and then go and sell those food items at a local independent convenience store for 60 cents on the dollar and receive cash for your troubles.
