I didn't think it was so much an LSU thing, as it was Saban wanted to give the NFL a try.
Coaches sometimes get the itch to try our their abilities at the highest level. Saban realized that the NFL wasn't where his abilities would optimally be spent, and came back to college on a more permanent basis, unforunately.
