A friend of mine is going to New Orleans for a weekend visit in the near future. She is about to move back to her home country and wants a full New Orleans experience before she leaves America.
Can y'all recommend me some bars and restaurants to pass along? She's staying in the Lower Garden District. Probably looking for places in the Quarter, CBD, and LGD. She's not really looking for fine dining. Her friend she is traveling with is a vegan so bonus points if there's a place or two that can accommodate that.
I've given her a few pointers, but I've only visited New Orleans very sporadically in the past 5 years or so, and my priorities aren't really the same as hers.

I'll second Carmo.. and their drinks are fun. Carmo would also be good for lunch if your friends want to take in Julia street art galleries afterwards.
Greed Goddess is also vegetarian and in the quarter at a cool location on Exchange place.
Both very casual and affordable.
