re: If we hadn't traded Buddy for Boogie, I'd be mad about not getting Murray

Have you been watching Murray since Dec? He’s been taking over games competing for a playoff spot. Carrying a 60% TS% and hitting 42% of his threes

Dude is 20. CJ McCollum was a junior at Lehigh at 20

McCollum has proven it for 3 years. Murray has played this well for what... 3 months?

A 23/4/4 guard who knocks down 42% of his 3s is a very high ceiling.

weren't you the guy saying you would rather have Sam Dekker than Devin Booker 3 years ago? i'm glad you seem to have learned your lesson

the point Gyno makes is that Murray is putting up great numbers in a big role as a 20 yo on a 45 win team. McCollum didn't play more than 1000 minutes until his 3rd year in the league and his age 24 season. he has played very well, but that difference matters.

it doesn't guarantee Murray anything, he could plateau- which would still be a very good offensive player. but there is ample reason to believe that Murray can surpass CJ given what he's shown and his age. he is arguably as efficient a scorer as CJ already

And we’ve seen steady progression and not regression from Murray. That’s the very thing that made him so attractive. He’s not close to being maxed out.

McCollum is a 4 year college guy who didn’t figure it out until year 3 in the league. By saying thats Murray’s ceiling is saying he’s nearly maxed out

T if you want to talk numbers more compatible to Mccollums big minutes, Murray has played 30+ min in 42 games this season, for a 34.7 avg

20.5 PPG
4.4 RPG
3.7 APG
45% from 3
49% from field
63% TS

He’s 20. Let’s find a slightly more ambitious ceiling. And I like McCollum
