yes, they are all like that.
what you need to do is get access to the transporting companies, not the brokers

once you pay a broker you are SOL as far as being able to communicate if anything happens, gets delayed, etc.

i haven't paid, but i did give them my card number but withheld the CCV number. supposedly i would be charged 100 bucks ONLY after driver assignment, and then the rest upon delivery. haven't been charged anything as of now, but not sure what would happen if i continued to search other means
