All true.
Many professionals (academic advisors, counselors, housing directors, etc.) working in higher ed will tell you that students today are WAY less independent than students of the past, sometimes to the point of crippling their ability to perform well on their own in college.
Also, the likelihood of your child being kidnapped by a stranger is infinitesimally small. Like you have better odds of winning the lottery than your kid being kidnapped by a stranger.
