Got to the range at 10am yesterday. Spent 1.5hrs tearing down and cleaning the Garand. I got it 2 weeks ago but am in the middle of a move so I hadn't had time to do that at home. Once I put it back together I started sighting it in. Fired a group of 3 at 25yds that would all be touching the edges of a dime but the group was about 8 inches low and 5 inches left. Took the next 7 shots to get it in the bull. Then started ringing the 10" gong at 100 yards with the remaining 10 rounds I had (only had a box of 20). I love how it shoots. The weight of the gun and the lower pressure rounds make for a pretty gentle recoil.

The 357 shot great. However it DOES NOT like steel cased ammo. Every case expanded and got stuck in the cylinder. I had to press the cylinder ejector against a wooden post to get the empties out after every cylinder-full fired (that was 357 caliber). It kicks quite hard with the 357.

I also ran 50 rounds of brass 38 special thru it and it was a much calmer kick and just as accurate.

The Rock Island 1911 9mm was amazing. Smooth action with a minimal recoil thanks to the heavy frame of the 1911. My only gripe if I has to gripe about anything is the deep cuts on the grips. It helps to make for a secure grip on it but the inside of my right thumb rubs against an aggressive area at the top end of the grip that irritates my thumb pad. I may get out the dremmel and polish the edges of that area down just a tiny bit. Otherwise, it was accurate and shot awesome. No faults whatsoever through 200 rounds.

Also brought my Canik TP9SF out there with me. That's another great gun for the price!
