Does that cover all travel, or are those coaching/club fees?
Traveling can get expensive. My son plays at 7:30am in Hammond this Saturday. frick.
Honestly I don't know. The last year we were on the team it was like $300 and that was with six year olds.
From what I hear, the seven year old team plays tournaments and all this other incredibly inane bullshite. Just to make sure they really suck all the joy out of youth.
We're on a team now with a bunch of normal kids from school. The coach doesn't yell and the kids still win and have a good time.

Had a talk with my 11 yr old this morning about the game this weekend. It honestly sounds like things you shouldn't have to say to an 11 yr old...but he's gotten himself into this position. His coaches have always promoted him as the best player...so inevitably he'll have to play the best player on the other team (center mid vs center mid in soccer). The boy he's about to play has beat out a hundred kids to earn that spot (giant NOLA club), my son didn't even really compete for it.
How do you get the competitive juices flowing? What do you say? Hey boy, tighten your chin strap?
Cheer up, it gets worse.

Dixie Baseball>>>>>>>>>>>>Little League
At least that's the way it was in NWLA when I was growing up.

It’s little league. There are no rivals.
I don't believe that for a second. Just because it's little league doesn't mean that there can't be a team that you as a player wouldn't want to beat more than the others.

I umpired LL for 20+'year's it's incredible the things I saw parents and coaches do. I could write a book bout the coddling, abusing, demeaning, and shaming that went on. It's the main reason I quit doing it.

It's a tough spot. For every parent that's dropping $10K a year on little Johnny to be the next youth baseball star, there's probably 10 other parents who are like "How the frick did we get into this bullshite?!"
My kids also like Star Wars and Pokemon and Transformers. There were other kids on the team who didn't know who R2D2 was.

“Sometimes it just ain’t your day” comes after that to end my cliches

Who the frick is “we”?? Do you play on this team?
Oldest, lamest comment re sports fans...should only apply to chuds referring to college or pro teams as “we” if ever. This guy at least has his own child playing on the team and isn’t cheering for a team that just happens to have a base in his town.

Lake Charles Little League dads used to bring chain saws (w/o chains) and rev them as the opposing pitcher started his windup - 13 to 15 yo league.

some mother from the other team comes up next to our dugout and shes shaking dice and staring down our coach. We are like wow look at this weirdo..

Was she actually shaking dice or is this some sort of ghetto slang?

I was bitching the other day about having to pay $85 for 6 y/o league, damn.

This hits so close to home. I went to a baseball game once. Prayers for you and your family.

My son plays in the Carrolton 5/6 year old league in NO and it was damn near $200. Unbelievable.

Travel ball is only bad when teams are new. Once the pecking order is established you don’t see craziness
Rec leagues are much worse. Travel ball parents are too tired. Extended family is only their when you happen to be playing near them.
